In case there is any confusion, I can confirm that if the members vote on Saturday in favour of me representing the membership on the board of Scottish Snooker then I will do the best I possibly can do to represent them on the board.

I like many others want to see change in how Scottish Snooker is run. The number of entries is embarrassing and indicates the confidence people have in the current board. Hopefully on Saturday we will see the start of a new future for Scottish Snooker.

Cheers bobby.

I wonder how long Bobby Cruickshanks post will stay up on the ssl forum. Opinions like Bobbys have a short life span on the ssl members forum.

Surely Tam this flies in the face of recent statements put forward by the interim board?

RE-CONVENED EGM

Today sees the dawn of a new era in Scottish Snooker . The re-convened EGM of Scottish Snooker ltd was held in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange. A Majority of 56% of Scottish Snooker voting members voted in favour of Bobby Cruickshanks, Paul Marinello, & Mark Boyle to replace Stephen Baillie, Alec Cameron, William Craig, Hugh Brown, Annemarie Reilly, Patrick Higgins and Helen Burton. Prior to the EGM all the above board members resigned with the exception of Alex Cameron. Today’s vote by the members seen the removal of Alex Cameron from the board. Mark Boyle this evening has decided not to take up his position on the board, Marks words were “due to just not having the spare time to do my job properly, as I feel i would be letting people down. Good luck to the new board im sure they will put Scottish Snooker back on the map for the right reasons.” Im sure all involved in Scottish Snooker understands this and wish Mark the best in his new career as a professional snooker player. The new board at present is Frank Hamilton (interim secretary), Paul Marinello, and Bobby Cruickshank. I will be in touch with Frank to arrange a board meeting at the earliest convenience to facilitate a smooth transition of all Scottish Snooker assets and co-opt new members to the board of Scottish Snooker to aid in the interim until the AGM in October. Amongst today’s speakers was Scottish professional Alan McManus who gave his and John Higgins (world champion) full support to the new board offering their services if asked. Other guests included Joe Blair & ex professional & five times amateur champion Bert Demaco also giving their full support. I would like to thank all the people who turned up today and placed their democratic vote.

Many Thanks
Paul Marinello

Great attendance today demonstrating the desire of so many for the game to move forward. The members have voted now and I am sure this is the start of something really special.

I am now fully behind the NGB and will do whatever I can to support Paul, Bobby and Frank get Scottish Snooker back to where it should be.

Well done to all involved in ensuring democracy takes place.

Congratulations to Paul & Bobby on being elected today to the SSL board, good luck to Mark Boyle in his professional snooker career.

It was very refreshing to be part of a meeting which was well run/organised from start to finish. Everyone who wished to express there opinion was given the opportunity also to witness a vote carried out in a totally transparent & democratic fashion was inspiring.

Well done to Mr Alan Craig who chaired todays proceedings impeccably. Mr Craig's experience & assistance over the past 18 months has been priceless (although totally voluntary), keep up the good work Alan.

Thanks to Bert de Marco for the full use of all his assets, youre a star 'Auld Yin'

Heres to a new start to snooker in Scotland, one which will be embraced by all- As ive stated before i have no intention of being co-opted onto the board but any help or assistance that the new regime require of me will be given-100%

Thanks must also go to Alan McManus & John Higgins who are very passionate about developing the game in Scotland under a new regime. Youre help is greatly appreciated by all Scottish snooker enthusiasts, young & old.

The only way is up!!!

Hopefully, this is the beginning of a new era for Scottish Snooker. The interest, in my opinion has always been healthy, maybe not quite as strong as the late 80's early nineties, but nevertheless very healthy in Scotland.
I would just like to put on record my thanks to the previous board for the good work they carried out during their time as directors, this is not a tongue in cheek statement! In my opinion they did their best and had good intentions in what they did. Maybe as time went on things got a little stale and the enthusiasm was no longer there. But lets all remember, nobody else was begging to do anything during most of this period. Unfortunately in the last 18 months or so in particular, personality clashes, differences of opinion, unsavoury incidents etc have all occurred, personal insults and slurs of character have been abound. Let it end. Let SSL members elect their board to do the job the members deserve. Let Scotland produce the quality young players that 20 years ago were plentiful and recently been few and far between. So my thanks go to Stevie Baillie, Hugh Brown, Alec Cameron, Annemarie Reilly, Willie Craig, Crawford Mitchell, Pat Higgins and Helen Burton for their efforts and all other directors who have come and gone during the past years, everyone has made a contribution of some sort and for that I thank each of you.
